Installed new trailer bling

Realizing my axles, hubs and springs were getting to rusted to be safe and with drum brakes that only worked for a short period of time after being replaced years ago, I decided a rebuild was instore.
Old stuff:
New stuff: new axles, springs, shackles, SS bolts, u bolts, brakes lines, SS brake calipers, dacromet hubs/rotors, brake lines and surge actuator.
Pulled boat to coast this past Saturday, and pulled like a dream, brakes made a much bigger difference than I thought it would. Also, seemed to be just a real smooth ride.

Looks great. I'm in the same situation and will be making a move soon. I'm considering torsion axles. Anyone care to share their opinions on changing from leaf to torsion.

Thanks for the post. I'd say you got your monies worth out of the old ones! SCARY or maybe "You can't judge a book by it's cover" would apply? Anyway…..good job!

They were scary when I got a good look at them.
I would have gone to torsion axles but it was faster to just install the springs using existing hangers. Otherwise, I would have had to measure and align new torsion axles. It would be hard with boat on trailer and I had no where to remove boat while I worked on it. Also, didn't want to risk of not aligning new axles correctly and chasing that problem after install.

Looks great. Working brakes do make a difference plus got to have them to be legal. Nice work.

Being legal was a major factor in doing the upgrade. For those who don't know, both Georgia and Florida require brakes on all axles for trailers that weigh more than 3000lbs. That's combined trailer and boat weight. I old assume most all tandem axle trailers fit this bill and many single axle brakes.
