Hi Everyone,

St. Marks is back to normal summer patterns!

At least it was yesterday. I put in around 8 am alone in my little jonboat and headed out to the Rock Garden. First shimp in the water (under a CT) earned me a 19" speck. By 9:30 I had two more in the cooler. Very few shorts, and only a couple cat. I did get quite a few ladyfish, but they are fun as hell to bring in so I don't mind those. Caught my limit and was off the water about 1:30. It was hot right when I got there and then let off for a couple hours as the tide was coming in. Picked up again a couple hours before high tide.

I was fishing in 3-6 ft of water over clear grass between the Rock Garden and the lighthouse.

Even though I was getting lots of hits on my black/white chug bug surface lure, I didn't catch that many on it. They were just playing with it. They weren't interested in anything else plastic I threw at them. All the keepers were on live shrimp under a CT.

It was dead calm all morning and the wind kicked up a bit around 1.

This is very exciting for me. The first time I ever caught my limit!

Final Trout Measurements:

1 x 21 in
1 x 20 in
1 x 19 in
1 x 17 in
1 x 16 in

Things are back to normal, it seems!

Great day Doc!! My kind of fishing too! Love the action on live bait! Really don't care if I bring anything home, I live for the fight...

What a difference a few hours make! I was out too on Friday. Wanted to get on the water by 1:30 p.m, but didn't get on the water until 3:30 p.m. because of that little thing called work got in the way.

Doc, I fished the same area of water (3-6 ft) drifted east through the garden and whatever I had in my tackle box they didn't want it. I threw a gold broke back rebel, yozuri crystal minnow, she-dog topwater, catch 2000, mirror lure red and white and green gold.

I caught three fish under a Cajun Thunder. Spottail with shrimp, 1 spec too small too measure under a rootbeer color and another 14 7/8ths under an electric chicken.

Started to pack up at 6:00 p.m and fishbites to tip off the SWAs and noticed the hits picked up. Fish weren't definitely interested in real shrimp.

Highlight of the day came when my wife asked me why we were leaving around 6:15 despite the rolling waves, getting soaked and she hadn't caught a fish. My 16ft bass boat doesn't fare too well once the seas kick up. I learned a lot though.
