Does anyone use chum in the flats while drifting?

It seems to me like it would negate a lot of the effectiveness of your chum slick if you were drifting along with it. If you could slow your drift down enough so that the chum was moving along a good bit faster than the boat was it might work.

I can just picture that big Cobia swimming over to where you threw out the chum and wanting to eat....meanwhile the boat has drifted a couple hundred yards away.

A fish oil dispenser with a slow drip leading them to your boat like the Pied Piper.

When a fish catches a whiff of your chum it is going to follow the smell upcurrent to try and find the source. If you are drifting along, upcurrent is going to be away from you.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

At any rate, no harm in giving it a shot. I do think you should slow your drift as much as you can by using a drift sock or a bucket or two.

Oh. I am just trying to get every edge I can because I thought I knew how to fish until I start fishing the flats. Only thing I have limited out of is patience.
