Some folks in here Monday talking about having a jon boat only toury and ask if I would post the question. 25 HP max on 14-16 ft jon or fiberglass boat. Red or red/trout or something else ? 25.00 a man paying out three places. Live/dead bait or artificial.

Would you let canoes in? Even with a carbon fiber paddle I only generate about 1/2HP in my 12 foot Old Town.

I would be up for that. Sounds like a good time. Let us know the details if they actually get a plan together!

Sounds good , especially for redfish. There are already too many trout tourneys and a big trout/ red tourney yearly. I'd like to see a redfish tourney, best 2 fish per 2 man team.

Great idea but do a ramp tournament where everyone leaves together.

Not a big fan of shotgun starts. Can be a little dangerous with everyone bolting out of a small canal at the same time, trying to be the first to "their" spot with money on the line. Just sayin

Ashley, I was thinking Hickory Mound to Lighthouse as ramps with a weigh in at Aucilla or Jr's if he would be willing ? If not a lot of boats are in, a single ramp make sense to me. If there are more than 10-15 I say open it up. S/G two heaviest sounds great,... Fl. regs 18-27 or 19-26 ? Scales ??? Date in Oct. ?

I'd love to see Ashley pull out of the lighthouse and head to spring warrior in a 14' Jon

OK, so I'm playing a bigger roll in this now....Going back over a few things...Redfish tourny on Oct. 10 th. starting at safe light and weigh in at 3:00 weighing 2 heaviest redfish with in Fl. regs 18-27. 25 HP outboard motor on jon or fiberglass boat. 50.00 per boat 2 man team and 100% payback !! I would like some feedback on this ...1-10 boats WINNER TAKES ALL !!....10-15 boats pays 2 places (60-40) and 16 boats and up 3 places max !! I think the weigh in should be at the park in Newport or Aucilla Ramp. Live/dead bait/artificial caught on hook and line. Everyone generally knows the rules. I would like this to be as simple a tournament as the jon boat itself. Any other suggestions would be helpful, we would like to get the ball rolling to make this happen....
thanks,
Chris & Lloyd @ Gulf Coast Lumber

P.S. No kayaks or wade fishing....just a simple JON boat tourny

I don't like blast offs or tournaments held at a single ramp. If you have ever drove early to ramp to wait on tourney anglers to unload or come in from hot day of fishing only to wait in the heat on a bunch of tourney boats to load or wrap up the banks. You would understand. :hammer:
