I have always had better luck with cut ladyfish for bait. Catch 3 or 4 ladyfish, cut them in half and stab them a couple times for better scent, and take them out in a kayak.

Hey Doc, stingrays can't resist a piece of squid.

Go out onto aligator point and shark fish off the rocks where the old campground used to be. Seen some growed ones pulled in there over the years.

Best bet for stingray is to gig them... Go out on Alligator point or right off mashes at a high tide and they will be along the shore line.

The guys I see use 1/4 or 1/4 for bait.

But you will catch plenty of sharks on any cut bait.

Go by Rock Landing Marina and see whats in the gut bucket by the fish cleaning station ;-)

Pretty much any bait will work Big mullet, pinfish, lady fish, and jacks but sting rays are defiantly my all time favorite. They stay on the hook really well and I have always had good luck with them.

What rod and reel combo do you plan on using for this?
Do you have a kayak?

I have no kayak...but I'm using a large diawa spincast reel on a 10 ft surf rod with 80lb braid line and probably a 150-250lb andes monofila leader. 9/0 - 14 /0 hook

If the wind is right you can use a ballon to drift your bait out as well.

Sounds like a nice rig you have most of the basics down just don't forget the steel leader

I have steel leader but, was trying not to use it due to sharks having very sensitive sensors that can detect metal. Thats why I have amped up the monofilament leader to 200-250lb. or am I being way to cautious????
