Decided to post this report today because we don't see many reports during the middle of the week and if yall are like me I like to see new stuff on here everyday :D Anyway fished on Saturday with my dad, we were fishing at 6:20 am and fished until 11:15, had afternoon commitments that why I was not at the ragatta, went west like I normally do and started out in 4-5 ft of water. The water was pretty clear and we had 4 keepers in the box by 8:00am. It slowed down as the wind in close shut down and we picked up a couple of more keepers before it just quit. Decided to move out toward the bird racks due to the reports from here and as we were motoring out there the wind picked up. Fished out there for about an hour and picked up 5 or 6 fish but only one keeper :-? . I told my dad that now that the wind had picked back up we should move back in and try to limit out. We went back in close and there was still no wind :o , whats up with that. It was like there was a wall about a mile off shore that would not let the wind in. We only had about an hour left to fish so we stayed there anyway and picked up another 3 keeper fish. The color of the day was Glow white/red tail SA under the C/T. Total fish for the day was 18 trout 11 keeper size from 15 to 22 inches, had to throw back a 22" because we had our two over 20 already, 2 catfish and 1 something. Good day on the water and a great day with dad. This site has made me a better fisherman and has allowed me to have some good fishing days with my dad. :D

DS don't know what the something else was. Best description is not a big fish, kind of brownish and all teeth.

Tom I don't believe that is the critter. The body is two wide, the fish I had was looked like its head was two big for its body and the mouth looked like :D ALL TEETH.

Tod,

I've heard that called a "squirrel fish". Doesn't look squirrely to me tho at least the "toad fish" looks toady. Tom's pics are really great aren't they. Great report - your 1/2 day was way more productive than my 1/2+ day but I fished the opposite half from you on Sat. WTG

That is a lizardfish. "Squirrelfish" or the correct name sand perch are a completely different fish.

Lizardfish are good bait for many fish like grouper and cobia. I've caught many a trout with half digested lizardfish in their stomachs.

Thanks for the lesson. Lizardfish makes more sense.
