TeamGrouper out of Econfina, Sunday and Monday

We ( 6 of us ) 2 of whom were kids, left out of Econfina Sunday morning to check our bait traps, ( no luck ) don't know why, we usually do good with it, oh well we caught bait for an hour or so and left out, approx. 35 miles , oh say 70 ft or so, and it was fight off the AJs time, we managed our 6 very quickly. Then worked on the grouper some, if we could sneak a bait past the AJs. Everything seemed to prefer live bait Sunday and Monday. It was very slick Sunday and nice and hot , not much breeze, but the fish bit really well for the conditions. We had a very large Grouper or Jewfish ( not sure yet ) brake us off ( We know because we saw him ) Real , Real big , hopefully we will find out soon enough, we are planning on it but not sure if he is.. anyway we ran into the Woods and Water boat in the area we were fishing, who when we pulled over to let him take a few pictures said he had been trolling for hour + and he just watched us wrestle a 35# king. He said we should be in he next issue or maybe July since its so late, it ought to be a good one.

12 gag grouper , big fish around 15#s
6 AJs, averaging 20 #s
1, nice porgy
1 , nice trigger
2, 5 lb red snapper
1, 35 lb Smoker King

3 of us went out monday , throw in 6 more gags, 3 more AJs and it wasn't a bad couple of days on the water.

( ps, sundays catch with ice, filled our boat fish box to the top ), the only downer was cleaning the fish and boat. We haven't figured a way around that yet, except the fish part, i gave mondays catch away to the one of the guys who went with me..

It was nice to meet up with ya'll Frank . I was the fellow in the yellow hat . Great box of fish . I had a fish brake a rod in that same area after you guy's left . Probably that Jew Fish . See ya on the water .
