MOONLITIN FOR TROUT KEATON

JIMMY HOLDEN, AND TWO OF HIS CLIENTS, JEFF AND WALTER, AND I LAUNCHED THE BLUE BULLET AT 1:30 A.M. THIS MORNING, WE WENT OUT ABOUT 1 MILE IN WATER 3-4' AND STARTED CASTING AND IT WAS ONLY A SHORT TIME WHEN ALL OF US HAD FISH ON. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT WE CAUGHT 156 TROUT TOTAL WITH MOST IN THE SLOT. WE KEPT 4 LIMITS OF TROUT 16-18", THREW BACK 5 TROUT OVER 22". WE CAUGHT JUST A FEW SHORTS AND THE FISH WERE BUSTING THE SCHOOLS OF BAIT FISH COMING AND GOING. WE USED TOP WATER PLUGS, TOP DOG, HE DOG, SHEDOG, CHUG BUG, DEVIL HORSE, DALTON SPECIAL SILVER FLASH, AND EVEN USED A CHARTRUESE TRIPLE BLADED BASS SPINNER BAIT. I CAUGHT 5 TROUT ON THE SPINNER BAIT. THE MOON WAS OUT CLEAR AND A SLIGHT S.W. BREEZE BLOWING AND IT WAS REAL COMFORTABLE, DID NOT BREAK A SWEAT THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE THERE. WE LOADED THE BOAT ABOUT 5 A.M. AND HEADED BACK HOME. I JUST FINISHED CLEANING THE TROUT I BROUGHT HOME AND THEY WERE REALLY FAT AND HAD VERY FEW WORMS IN THEM. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE FISHED KEATON BUT IT WILL NOT BE THE LAST. THANKS JIMMY FOR A GREAT NIGHT OF FISHING AND I AM GLAD TO MEET JEFF AND WALTER, THEY WERE GREAT FISHERMEN. THINK I WILL TRY THIS AGAIN FRI.

When you fillet a trout, them white things, you were probably calling fat cells or something
are WORMS
.....Don't tell the wife
....You can pick them out or just fry'm up...

Great report PA. I've tried exactly what you've discribed a number of times with very little luck. Just ain't got the timing right I guess. What tide do ya'll like for Keaton at night?

C.S. I do not know what tide we went out on or when we came back since this was new area for me. We had plenty of water the whole time we were there. I would guess we launched about half tide incoming for this trip, Jimmy was running the boat and had all of the gps charts etc. to take us where the fish were. When I am fishing at night I prefer to start on the low tide and fish the incoming through high tide plus about 1 hour. The increase of the moon is more important than the tide, we have not done much after the moon becomes full, the decrease of the moon I will go but do not do much in the way of catching fish.
