I've been wondering what would happen with this area. The newly proposed marina/boat ramp seems to be in the SW corner of the basin, rather than the NW corner where the previous developer (Heaton) placed a boat ramp which I think is still there, but blocked off. They had big plans indeed as seen here

but seems like there is not enough population/demand to sustain that kind of resort.

There will be a boat ramp, however a "Marina" per se is probably some time away. The Fl. Legislature appropriated some money to us down in Wakulla County the year before last to build the boat ramp and parking. There's hope that one day there will be a Ships Store and fuel, but it appears that will be some time away.

I'm glad it's coming, we don't have access at Shell Point, yeah the boat ramp at Oyster Bay is there, however, there is very limited parking. I hope this boat ramp helps us turn this area around.

There will be a public meeting regarding the boat ramp next Tuesday, 12/16/15, 6 PM at the Shell Point Volunteer Fire Department Building. Construction for the boat ramp project started this week. Once the contractor completes the ramp, the County will begin constructing the parking area and drive aisles.
