St. Marks 12-6-2015

Took the boat to St. Marks for the first time this past Sunday and now I'm addicted to the area. I've read enough horror stories about the ramp situations over the years plus the crowding that I stayed away, but on this trip there was nobody at the Lighthouse ramp. Maybe it was beginners luck! Kyle and I got to the ramp around 7:20 am in about 54 degree air temp with 8mph wind; partly cloudy skies. Water temp: Unknown but felt a tad warmer than expected. We fished in front of the light house on a rising tide for about 3 hours from 4'-10' of water fishing mainly grass edges. We managed 4 sea trout, 2 being keepers and 1 ambitious lizardfish. We attempted to fish some of the oyster bars littered around the mouth of the river for redfish but had no such luck. All fish were caught on with a Cajun Thunder tourist rig with an electric chicken paddle tail hooked on a 3/4 oz - 1/2 oz. jig. Not too bad for a first time at St. Marks I will definitely make the drive more often.
