Panacea 12-6 & 12-7

Fished Panacea Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was not a good day for me. Couldn't catch any bait, couldn't find any fish, wind was blowing lime a hurricane, extremely low tide had me fighting to keep from walking. Called it quits about 5:00. My son comes in with one 19"red. Said fish were thick where he was, but not feeding aggressively. Tried again Sunday afternoon. Was able to catch 8-9 huge bull minnows. Couldn't find any reds in the creek though. Decided to try the mouth on my paddle back to the truck. Evan had the same idea. He was there with one in the cooler and one on his line. Cast the biggest bull minnow I had and almost instantly had a huge red on. Fought him for at least 10 minutes without gaining much ground. Somehow spit the hook with minnow still on. Sickening feeling! Figured why not so I cast another. Again within a few minutes something slammed my bait. About like the first one, had my drag screaming. Thought I'd never wear him down but luckily got the net on it. Beautiful 26" Red. Paddled to the landing with my 26", Evan had a 19" and 19 1/2", a smile and sore arm! Great day on the water!

Thanks Dixie Reb. We had kind of struggled for a few weeks so it was nice to get back on them. Luceror, I bet I know where you're talking about out of Bottoms. One of the few places I know of that high tide is the best time to fish the grass line. Nice catch!
