Decided to take the morning off and try a little flats fishing to start the day. We left the fort at 9:00 on an almost high tide and headed out east of the lighthouse. We started fishing in 3-4 ft. with no action. Moved out to 6 ft. and landed one 16" trout. Caught a few pinfish and sent them out under a CT. Within 5 or so minutes a 22" spanish nailed one of them. We had a few more hits with the pins, but none got hooked. I went back to using a firetail Sureketch and boated one more short trout. We found a nice school of spanish, but they were hitting the grubs so hard at the boat we kept getting broke off
After 10 minutes or so of this, we decided to do a little trolling. Got one strike at the spoon and after 30 minutes of nothing else, we decided to call it a morning. By this time, the wind was blowing us all over the place anyhow. Reeled in the spoon and noticed that the hook had been broke off
....go figure
Anyhow, not the best morning for fishing, but it still beat work
