Oldest girl's second solo hunt
Story is much longer but I'll spare y'all
It all started last night when Jordon asked if she could go hunting by her self. I was going duck hunting and I asked if she shot one what would she do? " call you" was her answer. She got to the stand at 6. She texted me when she got ( I was on the lake) in and said "I'm sure I scared everything away with my light, I'm a chicken in the dark". At 7 she texts me, "2 does feeding" I said good, live bait. She watched them for 20 minutes and they were gone. She told me she was going to leave at 9. At 8:50 I get a text asking "where do shoot a buck in the neck?". I said center mass, why? She says, "buck in the plot and wont give me a good shot. I've been watching him for 15 minutes with no good shot.". I tell her to relax, take your time and shoot a good shot if you get one. Less than a minute later she texts me "I shot him and he hunched up left the plot in left corner".
Now I'm on the lake with a buddy duck hunting....What do we do, start picking up decoys, She calls saying there is good blood leaving the plot. Stay put I say. It was killing her I know, she told me LOL. 45 minutes later I get home and before I pulled in the drive the front door was opening. She was ready to look for her deer. We go to the plot and she shows me where he exited the plot. We take up the blood trail that she showed me and 45 yards later we found her deer. Nice 8 point. She held it together and made a great shot! 40 yds is what he went. I'm mostly proud that she went to the stand in the dark by her self but she also really paid attention to detail after the shot and everything she told me was spot on. Big hugs and fist bumps!!!!!

Congratulations to Jordan!!!!!!! That is awesome!
I too am a chicken in the dark. Sure makes turkey hunting interesting and sometimes an added challenge to overcome when I'm hunting solo. But the great thing is that she went. Good for her.
