This weekend was my girlfirend's first salt water fishing adventure.
I had built it up bigger than life . We we're going to catch fish
until our arms were sore.
We hit the water after lunch on Sat. and the wind was howling. Didn't seem to faze her so off we went. Headed to the bird rack in oyster bay. The boat was rocking pretty hard, but my parter was enjoying it! :D
I hung a big trout on an electric chicken SA a few minutes into the drift. She wanted to get a picture of it splashing in the water.....he got off! :( Fished until 6:30 and only had a few hits. No more fish landed.
Sunday on the water at 7:00 am. Headed to the same spot. Partner caught her first trout on frozen shrimp! :smt041 A few pictures and back it went. It was about 16". A few minutes later she catches her first shark (about 12" long) and swears it's a great white! :D Stayed in that area for another hour and caught nothing! We go out to the spring creek reef fish both sides and nothing! Head to the stake line between the light house and shell point....nothing. Head back over to spring creek and anchor near an oyster bar for lunch. I caught a 2' shovel head and she caught a few pin fish. About 3:00 partner is getting discouraged, so we head in and go to the beach for a few hours. About 7:00 pm we head back out to the reef (low tide). We walked around and looked at all the creatures, found a few shells that didn't have critters in them and watched the setting sun! She really enjoyed that! I told her the Spring creek channel would be hard to navigate in the dark, especially at low tide, so we headed in!
This was the best trip I've ever had when the fish weren't biting!
Partner said she couldn't wait for the next trip!! I've got a new salt water fishing partner! :D

Oh yeah!! We did see a few scallops this weekend! :lick: The next trip will include some snokeling!

Great trip! Even though I don't know near enough about fishing, I join you in loving to take somebody out who is new or inexperienced in this area and watching them catch fish! Congratulations to you!

Very nice trip GC, I took the wife out on the boat Sunday, We fished a little but mostly rode around and spent some time at the Cold Hole in Spring Creek. Those women need their turns on the water too.
