FSU Marine Lab WX site

I recently called the FSU Marine Lab at St. Teresa to inquire about their Gulf water temperature readings. After checking, the staffer I talked to said the gauge was in the channel right next to the lab. I questioned its accuracy since the readings were in the 70s, even after the cold snap. I was told it would be checked.

Well, apparently they did check it and possibly replaced the gauge. The reading just a few minutes ago was 57 degrees, which sounds about right after it warmed up yesterday afternoon.

This is a real-time site with wind, rain and now accurate water temperature readings. Good tool for planning trips and comparing results to actual conditions.

At least they fixed it, the GAweathernet station near my research plots would show a couple tenths of a inch on the rain gauge and then the gauge in the field would show a couple inches.
