Geezer Weekend: Poker & Quail Hunt
Posted: March 10th, 2016, 12:51 am
Just a fun post……Two weekends ago, I and five other adult Boy Scout leaders (from Geezer Patrol) got together to share a little bonding time at the Broomsage Quail Plantation in Callahan. Here’s our trip as seen through the eyes of a lens…..it should be noted that this is my version of how the weekend went……..
Arriving mid-Saturday afternoon the Geezers shot all kinds of firearms behind the Lodge and then went into town for a bite to eat. Afterwards the Geezers got a poker game going. Not to brag but…..I had never played before but got to take home some of the pot. Too funny. I see why people like Poker.
Sunday morning
After a good southern breakfast of grits, eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy we geared up to chase quail.

It was a chilly start at 32 degrees ˚F

6 Geezers about to hit the woods
Note: you can see one of the guy’s Victoria Secret “ammo bag” in the background
(If you had to guess…….obviously it belongs to the guy doing the wild gesticulation……)
I mean…Come On!!! Who brings a bag like that to a guy’s retreat???

A beautiful “Boomer” on point

“What are ya’ll looking at!!!?”

Mac’enator reloading after the first bird…….

“Boomer” a pointing for the Mac’enator again

A SWEET retrieve

Three of the hired “guns”

Disconcerting shot of Rich Wray’s “ammo bag”
(if you look closely you can see that even the dawg was nervous….)

Both Mac and Rich killed more than their limit of pine trees….
I forget who killed this one….there were sooooooo many

Gunner “Ditch” showing how it’s done

A “soft mouth” by a good dawg!

Rich (guy with the Victoria Secret bag) trying to convince the dawg to flush the quail towards HIM!!

Couple other “hired guns”
After the hunt we had lunch inside the Lodge while the guides cleaned our birds.

That’s some awesome meatloaf!
A couple of the guys stressed very pointedly that……..

That was fun weekend and some good dudes to hang out with!
Hoo Yah!!
