I'm surprised nobody's cared to give you any info on cats. I haven't tried it yet, but a wildlife agent said that there are plenty of decent catfish, channel cats I think, in Piney Z. Shoreline fishing can be done using any of the several ''fingers" that extend into the lake. Cast your favorite bait out there on the bottom and pull 'em in. Location is east of SE Cap Circle and north of Hwy 27. Lafayette Heritage Trail Park is a place to park.

Most of the prairie lakes such as Jackson and Iamonia are fair at best. Talquin and the Ocklocknee River are some of the best you will find for eating size up 20 pounders in the state. Seminole and the Appalachicola River would be the nearest well known for cats. What exactly are you looking for?

The reason you didn't get many other answers is Talquin is by far the best around...
The others pale in comparison.

St Marks River has some nice ones too but you wont catch as many as at Talquin or in the Ock.

Well went to Talquin and was disappointed again. Went to landing on Ben Stoudamire and used Bee Jay stink bait and only got 3 small cats! Getting a little frustrated!

Are you shore fishing or from a boat? Most of cats are probably in spawn to post spawn stage and up the running waters of River and in creeks on the lake. The bite is good below the dam and up River from the lake.

And what time are you fishing? The hour before dark to an hour after dark is the best
