Made my annual Keaton Beach fishing trip with a friend from NC from 5/01 to 5/05. We were joined early in the week for a couple days by a couple of friends also from Tifton, GA. Fishing was pretty good but not as good as what we've come to expect for early May. We couldn't get on a morning bite during the rising tide, but got some pretty good bites on the fall. Which was contrary to what I had expected particularly early in the week when the wind was blowing in. We did manage to pick up some nice redfish (27, 27, 24) and several nice trout (25, 24, 23, 22). Water temps started out ranging from 78 to 84, then later in the week dropped all the way down to 67 when the wind switched from the north and temperatures dropped. We fished anywhere from 6.5 to 2.5. Weather wise it was a good trip with us able to fish every day. Another couple of observations that tell me things are still pretty early in the year were that we saw very little surface bait, picked up no spanish or no blues the entire week. My friend Bil did manage a catch and release turtle on a spinner bait, another first for us. :D

Sounds like a good trip. Did Peng fish with you? Sure miss those picture packed reports of his. With the marina closed where did y'all stay?
