Bottom's Road 5/27
Decided we had to try around Piney Island. Put in at Bottom's Rd and ran to the redfish spots past the old seine yard and not too long caught a puppy drum; game on. Ooops, not so fast. Only red we saw. But it was fun. Went outside Piney and drifted. Water sorta clear in places and not so clear in others. Fished from 7 ft. to 2ft and did finally get supper. One good keep (17") and 2 almost gator trout (24" range). So, we had fun and got lots of bites (small trout, sharks, cats, sting ray, and one lady fish). One of the sharks was a 3' bonnet head that gave the inshore rod and reel (and the old man) a good time. Most fish caught on shrimp and grubs (electric chicken flavored). Always great to go with an experienced angler (nephew) and bend the rods. Hopefully we can do it again reel soon.
