Had a fantastic day on the water for opening of Snapper....
Went out of Cbell and found calm water and cooperative fish.
Got our 5 man limit of snapper with ease. Also caught a bunch of Red grouper, BLiners, Lane and even a few big grunts thrown in for fun
Live bait and Squid were the baits of choice
Lots of Christmas trees on the screen!
Did I mention it was CALM!
And I was whipped after we cleaned all of these
Ready to go again!!

I am about to climb in my truck and head that way for a day on the snapper grounds myself. Looks like y'all wore them out!

Well, we left Rock Marina at 6:30AM and my host turned up the heat on his two new yammy 300's and off we went in the wild blue yonder. Water was as slick as a baby's butt and our 70 mile run was over pretty quickly. We found a fish bloom on the first number and we began our search for the nearly extinct red snapper. In no time we had 5 of our 6 fish limit. Capt. wanted to move and search for a larger fish and grouper. Another stop and a nice red grouper, a bee liner and smaller snapper. The snapper were so thick in 90' foot water that they were rising up and knocking our baits off as they were falling. Finally, I snagged a gag. Get him up and he is 23 inches. A week ago, he was legal. Friday, he was thrown back. That new limit and the crazy 2 red limit made we want to choke as many members of this present federal administration as I could my hands on. Caught a nice bayliner and we moved into shallower water. No joy on grouper, but we continued to catch and release the nearly extinct red snapper. For some reason, I started catching the fool out of nice blacks. 5PM, Capt. turned the boat back to shore and dialed up the speed. Got 2 nice snapper in my frig. Could not have asked for a better day or better company!
