Thoughts on knots

What is everyone's preferred leader to braid knot? I've been using joint swivels to connect the leader, but I've also used the FG knot in the past. What I'm wondering is, is a leader knot like the FG strong enough for cobia, grouper, etc.?

It's strong enough for tarpon.

Uni to Uni - use it all the time and never had one fail.
When I first started I put a drop of superglue on it but have not had any issues without doing that.

A video for the folks that wonder what we are talking about ;-)

I have to confirm the double uni knot is by far the best way to go. We fish braid with fluorocarbon leader that knot hasn't failed me yet. It is a bit of a pain to tie on a boat when the wind is blowing. IMHO

Haven't tried the uni but I'm starting to sense it's pretty popular. I'm going to watch some how to'do and give it a try. Thanks for the input!

I use the double surgeon knot for braid to fluoro or mono to fluoro. It's a real simple knot to tie, easily done on the boat. It has knot failed me yet (see what i did there). I usually fish 10-20lb braid to 10-12 mono with 20-40lb Fluor leaders. Other knot probably offer better breaking strength but for mostly trout and redfish it's no problem. Give it a try. One other issue is its not the smallest knot for going through the top guide.

Bob sands knot has never let me down. I've had 100# flouro stretch and break thanks to a Goliath. But the knot was still perfect

I concur with those above on the double uni knot for mono to mono / florocarbon................very easy to tie and NEVER breaks / pulls apart.

I use the double uni knot on the spool but like the Red Phillips knot for my braid to leader connection.

UPDATE: Last night I tried the uni to uni knot on 60 lb mono on my wife's rod. Locked it down and tied one end to a 25 lb anchor. pulled as hard as I could, jerked it around pretty good and tried several different ways to break it, but it stayed strong! Now hopefully we get some good fishing weather soon so we can start the real trial!

Thanks again for everyone's input.

I suspect its still available.
