St George Island bridge fishig report 7/24/16

I went fishing on the old bridge in St George Island at 10:30pm on Saturday night.
The stars were out and there was a cool breeze. there was a slow steady current.
I fished up to 8am Sunday.
I caught 10 catfish and 1 Ladyfish.
Around 6am I was woken up by loud splashing under the bridge.
I went over to look and I could see about 4 fishes about at least 4 foot long with a body of barracuda with a fin similar to a shark with a big head. They body looked like two colors.
Never seen these around here before. They keep jumping up and swimming on the top of the water.
I quickly tried drop rigs of shrimp and mullet.
Nothing
I tried poppers and little jigs.
Nothing.
They eventually left.
I wonder what they where?

I was thinking the same thing. The 2 colors, shark fin and big head definitely sound like it. Although I'm not sure I've ever heard of cobia behaving that way.

Videos show exactly what cobes look like from above. Cobes often hunt in a pack so no surprise seeing some together, but only have witnessed a few jump even when hooked, though HAVE seen them slamming bait at the top of the water and when they're hunting together they zig-zag around one another while circling bait and can sure appear pretty aggressive.

If your fish didn't appear dark brown on top (do have whitish stripe running along mid-belly) I wonder if you might have seen tarpon rolling?

It definitely was not Tarpon.
It must have been Cobia. Moved very shark like.
I have fished the bridge for over 7 years and never seen them there.
This is the first time and especially in a group like that!

I am going to fish at night more often to see what is out there!
