Hands Helping Anglers 2004

My husband and wife team for this year’s event was Dennis and Billie Morreau.
Image
Our day began about 7:30 and after loading up we headed out from Shields. The conditions were very favorable and the crew enjoyed the view along the way.

We crossed paths with a barge headed into the river as we passed the lighthouse

After traveling East towards Peter’s Rock, we began short drift’s back and forth in the area. The trout bite was slow although the rock bass on the bottom kept us busy replacing the tail less grubs that we kept ending up with. The fish seemed to be very specific as far as location and they were not moving off of structure very far. All fish were taken off the bottom using jigs tipped with fish bites. Dennis caught this nice 17 incher fairly early and later on caught another just a bit bigger.

Billie was pleased with the fact that Dennis had caught some fish.

But, let’s face it… she was fish’n just as hard and eventually managed a couple of nice Rock Bass. She also had a nice trout but it turned out to be just short of legal and was returned.

Although the Captain didn’t seem to have the knack for put’n the folks on a lot of fish… you just can’t find a more dedicated crew!! While Billie was having a snack.. Dennis picked up her rod and went to work trying for a “twoferâ€

RodBow I missed your question earlier... I use a 35 mm SLR Minolta. Just haven't made the jump to a digital yet. But as long as I can get the pictures 1 hour'd with a CD, I can get then on the forum pretty quickly. The big advantage (for me) with a digital would be that I would not have to waste the rest of a partial taken roll in order to get the pictures loaded and I could load directly to my PC. However, with my current procedure, I have hard copies to give and the CD to make more or upload, so I guess its 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other.

Good morning Carlabear :D

If I understand your situation correctly, you've got everything you need to get the pictures up loaded. It's very simple (once you know how  ). I'll try to give you the steps.

You will need to put the CD in the drive (probably the D: drive) or have already copied the picture files to a folder on your PC' s hard drive (C: ).

You will need to connect to the internet and then go to one of the Picture Processor web sites that have been mentioned on this forum from time to time.

I use http://www.teamsouthbound.com/picturepr ... efault.asp
which is the "Fishing and Hunting Forum Picture Processor". From that window/web site you will have 5 or 6 steps to complete.

Step 1. Click the "browse" button. When you do this it will take you back to your PC's directory sort of like bringing up Windows Explorer. At that point you will need to direct the browse to your CD or the folder where you copied the pic's. Select the pic you want to up load and double click on it. You should see the pic file name appear in the window on the picture processor page.

Your ready for step 2. Click that button and select the Big Bend Fishing.Net site (currently fourth from the bottom of the list).

Now your ready for step 3. I always click "NO" here to avoid the up load from being stored in the site gallery and taking up space.

Step 4. Click the "Click to Continue" button. You should see a new window open and see the upload process happen. When the up load finishes you will see a Image file name in the window. It will look something like this...

Image

Step 5. You will need to draw your cursor over the entire code (highlight it).... click your right mouse button and select "copy" .

Step 6. Now go to your post on this forum and "paste" the code in the body of your message where you want it to appear. Make sure you capture the first bracket "[" and the last one "]" in the code. A couple of times I had the leading one or the trailing one get away from me and you will just end up with the code appearing as regular text.

If you want another pic.. go back to the Processor window and hit the "return to homepage" button at the bottom of the page and repeat the process.

I know this sounds complex but its really very straight forward and there are very good instructions for each step along the way on the Processor Site. If you have questions let me know.

Tom if you need to move this to a different topic feel free.

Enjoyed that report SR. Our experience with HHA was sorta similar. And we had a blast. My "crew" consisted of my guest, John, who is blind. He was great fishin' company, and had a ball with every hook-up. His first, on a live shrimp under a CT [we were on the flat east of the St. Marks], was a lady fish, and John loved the thrashin' and splashin'; and then the holding:

Image

All in all, we got a bunch of lady fish and too small trouts. We also got some sharks, several black tips and one nurse.

John called out a blow by blow description of each hook up, from the first tapping to "he's going left, he's going right, HE'S GOING UNDER THE BOAT."

He gamely tried to bait his hook with the live shrimp and to otherwise contribute even more than his great company.

And he got the only keeper we got aboard that day:

But I think maybe the best few minutes for him began when I offered to let him drive the boat. We got up to full throttle and were cruising! He loved that steering wheel, grinning from ear to ear.

It was so charitable of him to go out with me fishing. :D

Sir Reel & Aucilla,

What great reporting and pictures of an amazing day! I feel shamed that I didn't feel competent enough to participate myself. We need to all take a moment and count our blessings.
