Keaton Beach Shrimp / Report

I'm planning on going down to Keaton Beach tomorrow, but I haven't been since the storm hit. Is the Keaton Beach shrimp house open or did they get torn up by the storm too bad? If so, where is the closest place to get shrimp?

I always liked going there in the past. A couple of the guys were real bad at math, you'd tell them 100 and end up with 175!

They definitely took some damage, but they have put things back together enough to get back running. Still have the best shrimp prices around.

We went down toward spring warrior to see if the reds were schooling yet, and had no luck. Maybe in a few weeks when it cools off a bit.

We started fishing our way back towards Keaton while trying different depths. Ended up with 12 trout and 2 reds. For every keeper it seemed we probably caught 15-20 shorts around 14 inches long. Both shrimp and gulps under a CT were the bait of choice. Lots of floating grass made fishing anything else tough.

Thanks for the report ugadawg. Looks like the trout are fattening back up.

Nice mess of fish. That looks like the floor of a Key Largo their sitting on. Have they fixed the ramp and got the docks back yet at Keaton?

Where is this KB shrimp house where they use common core math?

The white and green house on the gulf side a little ways past old Marina, has "White Porch Monkeys" on the trim between the first and second floors. First time I saw it I had to do a double take.
