The permit gods smiled on us again- we scored 3 permits for STA1 last saturday
Loaded up the boats and made the 7 hour trek South

Decided to go strait to the check in line so we could get the spot we wanted.
Had a few beers and Publix Subs and slept as best we could in our trucks.

The next morning met expectations.. the Drive was worth it!

My Limit, Florida Mallard, Fulvis Tree Duck, Two Black Belly Whistling ducks, and Two Pintail!!!

Our birds

My buddy Tyler, Jamey and his daughter Katey Got into the Wigeon.

Spent the afternoon and early evening at Roland Martin's Tiki Bar

The next day five of us went out on Lake Okeechobee

Found another Florida Mallard - everyone in our group got one.

Also had some nice groups of ringers work us

Beautiful lake and great habitat. Amazing how big it is!
Our take for two days...
9 Species!! Spoonie, blue wing, green wing, wigeon, pintail, black belly, fulvus, mottle, and ringer!
Does not get much better!
