Took my Dad and my Paw in Law today.

Hit the light house at 6:15, 15 boats already there. :o

Caught pins for about an hour on the flats. When we had about 40 we headed for Marker 24. Caught 2 dozen hardtails and threadfins at the marker. Wanted to run SE about 10 miles but decided against it since there was a Tstorm looming that way. Instead we headed south about 6 miles to an area we fished before.

Caught numerous shorts and my dad got a keeper gag. When the tide stopped we trolled to another hole close by all the while watching the kings and spanish bust bait.

Got anchored on the next hole and it was on but only breakoffs and shorts. My dad reeled up to check his bait. When the dead pinfish was about a foot under the boat a Huge king shot out and grabbed it and peeled 100 yards of line off a locked down 3/0. Burnt the hell out my dad's thumb. Managed to get him in though. My dad's biggest king and the biggest the boat has seen. 21 pounds.

My dad no sooner put his bait in the water when another one did the same thing, this time cutting the hook. Did I mention that I have a flatlined hardtail out the whole time? :-?

Winds started to pick up and the storms were building so we decided to head in. Good thing to because as we shut the doors on the truck the bottom fell out.

Good day on the water with the dads.

Very nice...never had the experience; but, I could imagine that isn't anything much better than watching a king hit at the boat and rip the line across the water. Only thing better is that your pops managed to land him

Thanks fellas. My dad has always been the type who could catch them in a puddle. He is the same about deer hunting. You could put him in the middle of town with a rifle and he'll come out with a 10 point saying " I let the 8 point walk". :-D
