Was out today and had a weird problem with my Optimax. Started right up and backed of the trailer. Then it died. Started right back up. Idling to dock it died. Tried to start just turned over not starting. Turned key of them back on no beep and would just turn over. Left off for a min turned key on beeped and then started. When would not start(just turn over) the key did not beep on first click. I was thinking maybe kill switch going bad. Any thoughts? It only died while idling in the no wake. I did get to run a ways and never died.

No one have any ideas? As well as it cranked and ran I feel like it's a simple electrical thing.

Fuel - Air - Spark
My guess would have been poor fuel flow or some old/bad gas sitting in fuel line.

Using ethanol fuel? Always a possible culprit, but it may be a loose or corroded connection on the key switch too.

No ethanol has ever been in my boat since new. And when running was smooth and even no stutter. It acted like pulling the lanyard off. I was able to test today while cleaning boat. I cranked it and pulled the lanyard. Of course it died. Turned key of then back on no beep. Turned over no start. Replaced lanyard and of course started right up. It had died while fishing before but always 1st thing in morn and would start right back up. Figured cold. Would do once or twice then fine the rest of the day. This is the first time in did repeatedly. Figure kill switch may be bad. It 10 years old so I will replace and see if happens again and go from there.

Sounds like a plan. If the switch is that old, it won't hurt to replace anyway other than the cost and labor.
