Fished Keaton Beach on the 2nd with Breambuster, Breambuster Jr., and a visitor from the great state of MN. We were fishing out of Breambuster's boat, mine is laid up until I can pick up a new trailer :smt011 Our day started out fairly slowly with a lot of shorts and a few keepers thrown in. We got a decent bite around the end of the fall (noon), then is slowed until the wind and the tide picked up around 1:30. We wound up with a limit of trout and a spanish. We had our best success in 5.5-4.5' with the rising tide. We were throwing a mixture of jigs/plastics and pin fish under cajons. There were an unusually high number of shorts. Water temps were 71-75.

We did have an interesting sighting. Early in the morning we spotted what appeared to be a small buoy being dragged through the water. Upon closer inspection we found it was a manatee with a rope tide around it's tail attached to a small buoy and a radio transmitter. Apparently this is a common method to track their movement but it was news to us. It looked a bit restrictive to me.

  Good report, BB can put you on the fish! I wonder what the recent rains will do to the fishing?

Im going down the first of next week, hopefully the rain doesn't hurt it. That prospective grad student got a good trip for sure.

Awesome day and report. Looked it up and apparently they do track manatees that way.

Man should leave the manatee (and others)....all this tagging/tracking nonsense...is nonsense.
