st marks 4/7

Post by youngfishslayer »

well read the weather that day said 20 mph winds and 3-6 foot waves.... so got a friend and decided to go fishing. hit the water at about 9:45 wind was noticeable heading out the river and it tide was extremely low the opposite side of the rocks where st marks and wakilla river meet across the channel was completely out of the water and you could walk on it to the green channel marker. headed out to second pylon of the stake line and waves were around a foot, wind strong. wind pushed us parallel with the stake line caught sea bass on jigs nothing else. left to go in waves were 3-4 wet trip back stopped on the right in the river in front of mitchells island creeped back to the first oyster bar and got one trout saw several reds and there was a toad red crusing the back side of the bar but wouldnt take anything we tossed towards him. water temp dropped from last time stayed around 70 in the flats and 71 in the river guess the rain caused it. going to bald point state park tomorrow see what i can get off the oyster beds

Thanks for posting. I usually don't try to go if the wind and waves are that bad, you can't get out far enough or move around like you want to. Good luck tomorrow.
