We got up later as water would be low till around 9:00. We packed up all our stuff and got ready to head out. Was a little skittish after raging a rock saturday. So we eased out the river. . We decided to go where we found them yesterday. First cast of the day and fish on! . After about a Ten minute battle this beauty came to the net. . We fished hard and never really got into the fish today. . Around 12:30 one of the boats with us came by to let us know they were heading back home. . We only fished another hour or two and heading in to clean the fish and head home. Wound up with 10 today. Was a great trip and time with good friends. Enjoyed it immensely. Well all except this part. .

HEY H-N-M, I WOULD SAY YA DID GOOD AGAIN. THAT LITTLE NICK IN THE SKEG IS STILL LONG ENOUGH TO PROTECT YOUR PROP. JUST GRIND IT OFF SMOOTHE AND DO WHAT COMES NATURALY, CATCH FISH.

We had a great time too. We look forward to this trip every year. Hope to keep it a tradition for many years to come. I just with the weather would have cooperated a little better.

Here's a solution to your rock encounter. This one has a drain hole so saltwater doesn't collect.

Those skeg guards are one of the biggest gimmicks on the market. At a price of around $100, they are not going to protect your skeg unless you something at idle and nothing more. You have to drill holes in your skeg and mount with sheer pins that are suppose to sheer off if you do hit something. So you got to replace it every time you hit something. I'm not just bashing this product without experience. I fell for it too. I hit the same rock as mentioned above. Nicked off a small piece of skeg. Bought a skeg guard and then hit another rock. It knocked off the guard along with the rest of my skeg so that there was not enough left to mount another one if I wanted too(sheered off right at the holes that I drilled for the guard). I bought a replacement skeg took it to a welding shop and had it welded back on for less money that that stupid skeg guard cost.

Speak from experience too. Installed a couple and they saved my skeg from damage when I bumped a few times. If you hit limestone hard enough it doesn't matter if you're in an A-! Abrams tank, something has to give. But the guards offer some protection and also clean up water flow if the skeg has been nicked.

The trick is not hitting the rocks in the first place.
