Is this thing open yet? I wanna get out there this weekend, but refuse to do so unless that pier is open.

I took rodbows advice and sent Captain John an email requesting information about opening the old SGI bridg for public fishing. Here is what Captain John had to say...
"I am working with the county to operate it for them. There are plenty of details to hash and it is just now becoming a pressing issue. As I understand it now, the county will be upgrading the rails , adding lights and a concession /restroom facility . If we are succesful in finalizing our license with them, it would probably be January or feb for opening... Thanks for your interest.. John Soule 850-380-2219"
So it looks like it is going to take some time for them to work the details before it is opened....

Holy shit. Jan or Feb? What in the hell have they been doing for 6 months?
Oh well, there goes that plan.

I can only guess that the city of Eastpoint has a very limited tax base which is inhibiting them from moving quickly. The transformation of the old bridge will be costly. If I had been negotiating the deal for the new bridge, I would have included the renovation work to convert the old bridge to a pier in the original bridge construction agreement. Well...I was not involved in those negotiations.....
Please exercise patience and give them some more time to finish. One day it will be finished.
