Crappy Weather = Great Fishing at the Refuge
Posted: December 8th, 2017, 6:49 pm
My teaching day ended at noon today. I could have gone home and taken a nap, but life is short, so I drove to the St. Marks Refuge and battled the winter elements to fish Stoney Bayou...
TIMELINE
1:00pm Got to the Refuge & netted bait
1:15pm Started tossing freelined live baits into the outgoing tide from the WCS at Stoney Bayou
2:10pm 7 trout over 20" (kept one) and one 26" red. They hit on every cast.
Finally stopped fishing when I could not feel my fingers. Lesson...
Get out there now! Even though air temps are brutal, the inshore water temps have not yet chased the trout deep. Most of my hits came on top.
