I put some game cameras out. Ordered 3 Arlo cameras, but I found out about a guy in tally that will instsll a much better system, but much more expensive. Sorry to hear they got cha. Cameras should do the trick. I'd have to run a trip wire to a rat trap rigged with a shotgun shell about knee high. 
My sons both sell security for a living. My son in Atlanta is the guru of IP camera systems. I am temporarily without internet and power while remodeling at St. James and this is what he suggested. This camera is not the best in the camera world, but it is one of the best in the cell connection onboard power system world.
