I'm headed down there in the morning for the weekend. I know the fishing is good, but anyone got any advice? Where, what to use, etc.?
I'll report when we get back.

I don't fish down there, but my pa n law slips down there from Ormond Beach from time to time. I know he's caught snook in inlet along the rocks(which can be very treacherous from what I hear) and also some decent size redfish.
*****The inlet can be very dangerous.*******
Good luck.

I grew up in Vero Beach and fished the Inlet quite a few times.
Fish the North Jetty. I know people that fish the South but they aren't too
successful. Don't fish in the inlet. (too rocky). Also, don't fish directly under the bridge unless you see people catching fish.
Fish the typical two hours before high tide and you will probably need a 4 ounce lead to hold the bottom. Shrimp and mullet are the most popular baits.
I have never been a fan of fishing off piers so be prepared for close encounters. (it can get very crowded)
If you want flats style fishing, fish the Indian River (west of the inlet). Surf fishing is available too. It is primarily done at the public acess point south of the South Jetty.
Check out the fishing reports on the FS forum to see what people are catching.
I hope this helps. Boy, it is beautiful down there.

We got back yesterday. Didn't catch much, but we had a blast. Fished mainly around the campground (w/in a mile or so). Had a couple of keeper reds, one trout, one sheepshead, and one mangrove snapper. Along with a million catfish. Great time had by all. Can't wait to go back.
