Every time I drive past there on 98 there are several people fishing on foot in the Harbor. I saw one of them pull in a nice trout over the 4th. Do any of you have any experience fishing up in the harbor?

There may be a few folks who fish there, but it primarily belongs to the "clam farmers" who have lease claims in the harbor. Never fished there myself....

The clam farmers stay south of the boat landing

But north of the boat landing there are 4 or 5 places on 98 where people park and walk down to the water. I know people will fish almost anywhere they can get to water but the volume of fishermen has always made me curious. When I was down a few weeks ago I saw a guy pull a very nice trout out of the water. I would have thought it to be too shallow there most of the time. I think I’ll give it a try next time the sea is too choppy to go to Turkey Point.

Although I haven't fished the aligator harbour, I have used my canoe and fished the area a quarter mile west of the marine lab. (just west of where 363 t-bones into Hwy 98) I have had some success, back when live shrimp were available. There was plenty of action, and I only landed 3-4 keeper trout, and several blues, and one pompano. I only saw two other boats all day within 5-600 yards of where I was fishing. The water clarity is nice, but may hace changed since then. It's always worth a shot, and if you have the right bait and the tides and moon on your side, you could do well.

It's been years since I've fished that area but I used to do pretty well with the redfish there. Just parked and waded out. Might be worth a try. I usually caught them on live pinfish but a gold spoon also worked. Good luck.
