Gags & cobia on rotary reef -- need to grow another inch

Took a day off work Friday and headed out of Mashes Sands at dead low tide.
Found some spots around Rotary reef where crabbers were laying pots and lots of activity on the fishfinder.
Caught a couple gag groupers, one 23 inches on an egg sinker bottom rig with a cutbait finger mullet. Tried a a bucktail with shrimp and caught a couple cobia, one 31 inches. So close! Shoulda stopped to fill the livewell with pinfish on the way out to attract their bigger brothers.
Motor troubles had me turn back from heading out to deeper water, but maybe the gags are moving in with cooler weather.
