Can anybody with experience tell me the line capacity of a Penn Senator 113H reel? It doesn't say it anywhere on the reel and my google searches are giving me different numbers.

Mystic Reel Parts schematics show these capacities:

Mono:
440/30
370/40
270/50

Braid:
925/50
750/65
650/80

Looks like you'd have plenty of room for error using braid, even with a mono top shot.

I was planning on putting a mono backer (looks like I could put about 350 yds) and topping it with about 150 yards of braid. Is that not a good way to do it?

Sure, that's an option that many go with. Mono is definitely cheaper than braid. Or you can fill with a good amount of braid and then add a mono top shot to allow for stretch when trolling. It just depends on how you're going to use it and your budget.

I will probably do a little bottom fishing and trolling. I haven't done much setting up my own rods in the past so I've been doing a lot of research. Don't want to spend the money to fill up the reel with braid that's for sure. I figured it would be cheaper to back with mono and then use the braid and maybe use a 20-30' leader
