Proline 23 Sport

Post by bbb »

Doing more offshore than inshore the last couple years had me wanting to move up to something bigger without dropping a bunch of money to do it.

Sold the Sea Pro a couple weeks ago and the next day bought this. 2003 Proline 23 Sport which is the Donzi hull at 24’ 5”. 2003 Yamaha 225 ox66 with 440 hours.

Immediately removed the bow rails, pin stripes and previous boat name.

Bought a Minn Kota iPilot and got it installed on a quick release bracket.
Image

Decided to go ahead and replace the tires and add some of them fancy rims.

Added Black Tip turf throughout the boat.

Added 9 flush mount rod holders and 4 beverage holders along the gunnel and transom.

Installed the three trolling motor batteries and charger inside the console on the shelf next to the head.

Boat came with a 8” Furuno Sonar with a thru hull transducer. It also had a 5” garmin gps. I found a new Garmin 94sv touchscreen online, and did a quick flush mount. Need to clean it up later. Thinking black plexiglass but we’ll see.

Last few things on the list.
- mount the epirb under the hardtop
- replace/repair the freshwater pump
- install the trolling motor plug on bow

Needless to say, I haven’t had to be rocked to sleep at night lately.

Made a HUGE mistake tonight.

We took the boat out for our first family ride on the Flint. Kids asked me to turn the radio on while we road to the sandbar. Boat has this Jenson stereo with four 6.5s.

Well I could just hear the radio good while running and had a thought.

How would it sound if I installed a 1000 watt amp and changed the out 6.5s and put in 8’s??? Now I’m shopping for an Amp and some 8’s.

After doing some reading last night, I’m really not interested in carrying an extra battery to run the stereo. I already have 2 main batteries and 3 trolling motor batteries on board. May just leave it alone for now or maybe get a cheap 400 watt amp and see how much juice it takes to run it.

Working with plexi is tricky. Before you buy a new stereo let me give you some ideas on equipment.
