Hey All,

Got a few hours in before sun came up this morning as I had to get back to a class, once the sun came up I decided to do a little exploring. Didn't have the time, but drove up the Carrabelle (New) River, how's the fishing up on the river? Heat up as the water cools down?

Appreciate it, JSS

Yep, like all the area coastal rivers, it can be great, OK or barren in the winter months. Have to find the right spots. Long idle zone to get upriver, but I've done well there at times on trout and reds. Less pressure than some of the more well-known rivers like Aucilla and St. Marks.

Are you fishing from shore or from a boat?

I would fish using lures that are as likely to be hit by a bass as they are by a trout or red... Basically stay away from live shrimp/shrimp lures until you find out if they are there. I've also caught some pretty big bass while fishing for trout/reds up river when it's cold.
