Saturday before the rain

Started early, and made it offshore before the wind picked up, and only managed one grunt before the wind made us head north.

Tried to fish several bars inshore, but my trolling motor died, and it was a struggle fighting the wind and current.

We did try to fish long bar, but were unsuccessful when we were there. I was surprised by the amount of floating grass both inshore and offshore, more than I would expected this time of year.

We did catch some short reds, ladyfish, and eventually a 36" gar and two keeper black drum, but we really had to work for them.

A creek mouth and some oyster bars did end up producing the fish.

I launched at the Fort around 7:30. I need to apologize to those I inconvenienced at the dock. I was a little unorganized and delayed someone launching as my boat drifted into their path. I hate being "That Guy".
I headed to the west flats around Big Cove, no love. Then to Horn Creek, no love. Cobb Rocks, no love. I finally found them chewing around the grass lines and creek mouths between Redfish point and Porpoise Creek. Wound up with some very chunky Trout from 16" to 20", a solid 24" Redfish and a 16" Flounder for the slam.
The Trout bite was a little different. The take was soft. So soft that at times I thought I was pulling grass until it pulled back.
Most of the fish were on chartreuse/silver jerk baits or paddle tails. Also pinfish colored paddle tails and one persistent Trout on a top water. No takers on the spoon, either gold or chartreuse.
All in all a good day.
