Does anyone have any good recommendations for fishing or ocean related books?

Besides Spring Creek Chronicles. (Read them all twice)

I’ve burned through all the videos one could watch. And watched all my favorite fishing/ocean movies.

Just finished two...

The 10,000 Islands classic by Peter Matthiessen, Killing Mr. Watson. Great story of the early subsistence settlers in a special place. I also thoroughly enjoyed Jimmy Buffet's A Piece of Salty Land. Lots of connections for me with fly fishing in the Yucatan, Cuba, baseball and Key West.

If you haven’t read land remembered(should be required reading for any Floridian) or old man and the boy( a lot about fishing, hunting and outdoors). They are both excellent reads.

I recently read Mangrove Lightning by Randy Wayne White. It's my first Doc Ford read but I'd pick up more of the books. It's a light, mystery type book that follows a wildlife biologist, his pot smoking pal and his flyfishing guide girlfriend. I

All of the RWW's Doc Ford novels are great. Fun, fast read with a zany, Hiassen-style Florida slant. He was a guide in Charlotte Harbor before he started writing.

I'm currently also working through his tarpon compilation. Title is the Ultimate Tarpon Book. I'm only reading it for an historical perspective, though. Tarpon never swim beyond Homosassa.

I love this comment, just needs a winking smilie.

Every fisherperson should read The Old Man and the Sea, by Hemingway.

I remember a scene from a Randy Wayne White novel wherein thugs toss a victim into a saltwater canal, figuring the alligators would take care of the body. But then RWW offers that the criminals miscalculated, as gators only inhabit freshwater.

Well, I DID find that book in the fiction section...
