Marine forecast said moderate chop for Wednesday and it was NOT. Very rough, very choppy. Forecast calls for less then a foot for tomorrow. So anybody been by the water today? Has it calmed down?

I've been adding 5-10 for any forecasted winds and seems to capture it. Also, add more variable change in direction... SW one minute... E for the next 3. Ridiculous

Spent a few hours (10:00 - 2:00) today trying our luck in and around the east flats and Big Cove. The wind was a lot stronger than the guestimates from McCall and NOAA. Even in the back of Big Cove had trouble casting and using the trolling motor. Did manage to pick up a couple nice trout for supper. And a bonus, got to help out/tow and fellow vet who was having outboard trouble. But, we did stay 6 feet from him and his family. You never know where those vets have been.

How accurate are the applications like Windy at forecasting the wind and wave conditions? I use Windy and have found it to be accurate only half of the time. I am lucky to get out on the water once a week, so I don’t know if Windy is the best application?

Blew steady from the SW yesterday afternoon until dusk and then it died down. Lets hope it stays down for the weekend as predicted.

.

Windy is by far the best predictor I’ve found. They are all guesses, but some are better

Yesterday Windy predicted a calm couple of hours between 11 & 1. It was spot on, and I hit an offshore reef. By 230 it was picking up and getting choppy.
Windy's been my best way to plan trips so far.

I use the Fishweather App. It has weather and tides. Its generally accurate and forecasts by the hour.
