Tin Can III Boat Test

Post by tin can »

Tom and I put the Tin Can III to the test today, I have a new Key West 186 Bay Reef. This is an 18.5 ft. bay boat with an 8 ft. beam, and a 19 degree deadrise. As soon as we passed the bird rack we were in solid 2's. A little further out we were in 2's and 3's. We ran the boat somewhat rtering the seas. We ran out at 25 mph. After catching bait at marker 24, we ran 5.5 miles to our first spot. By this time there were a few 4's mixed in. We still ran 25 mph. Even though the boat would ride up over the waves, re entry was very soft. The boat handled the water well, and we didn't get as much as a spray all day long. We ran back in with the seas, at 23 mph. The boat would slow trying to run up the back side of the waves, then would ride down the face of the waves. Once again, all the way back in, and never got wet. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the preformance of the new Tin Can III. :-D

I wondered what that sound I heard this afternoon was. All the troutses breathed a sigh of relief now that TinCan is a Grouper man. :-D

I hope your new boat gives you many years of good fishing.

WTG TC! Thanks for the report! I now think my 2-foot-itis might be an underdiagnosis!

TC- did you close the deal on the Tin Can III or are negotiations still pending?

Those KW Bay Reefs are sweet boats

OK...so you got a drier boat ride than before....
After catching bait at marker 24, we ran 5.5 miles to our first spot
But did it find FISH!! (besides bait) :-D

I had a great look'n bird dog once... would quarter a field and respond to hand and whistle and hold steady head up and hard as a rock... just as long as you carried the knot head and set him down in front of a bird!! :D

OK.... I JUST SAW YOUR OTHER POST..... LOOKS LIKE IT CAME WITH SOME GOOD NUMBERS :-D  Good job.
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
