Crook and Crook in Coconut Grove or Cudjoe Sales in Keys is where I bought mine. Best pricing I could find.

Here's an answer with a question. About a year ago I bought two crab traps at the Wal-Mart in Crawfordville. Back in the fall I had them out near the light house and caught 3 stone crabs, they weren't in season so I put them back. What makes stone crab traps different from blue crab traps? They seem to catch either species.

In North Carolina, I caught stone crabs in a blue crab trap. So I really don't know the answer of why stone crab traps are special.

Stone crab traps have the entry hole on top of the trap and they're usually weighted where I believe the entry holes for blue crab traps are on the sides.
I bet I built a couple thousand stone crab traps years ago.. got a missing finger for my efforts

A legal stone crab trap in Florida must have a degradable panel and an escape hole for smaller crabs. The requirements seem designed to prevent bykill of small crabs and allow larger crabs to escape lost or abandoned traps.

Is the link to the FWC requirements.

Almost the same for blue crab traps, but blue traps need to have 3 escape rings.

Was the missing finger from the trap construction or from a stone crab?

Trap construction and I wasn't alone. There were others who lost digits too.
