Smell on Hwy. 98 east of Lanark

For several years now I have notice an awful smell while traveling on Highway 98 east of Lanark Village. I doesn't seem to be getting better, only worse. What is it?

Noticed it myself past few years. Close to the condos at St. Joe bay. Smells like death.

Exactly right. That spot gets a lot of dead sea grass, especially with an east wind. Rots and smells. Has been so for many years.
