East of Grey Mare

We went to the Lighthouse landing about 7;30 to launch and head east, hoping the wind would be a little calmer: NOT. But we did get more familiar with Grey Mare and surrounding area. Cast our way toward shore and went up a creek to get out of the wind and see if any fish were around. Turned a corner in the creek and for a big surprise a "double": yep reds out each side of the boat. The fun part was landing a couple 24" redfish with the net still bundled up. Anyway, we landed supper and went exploring and casting. Did have a super blow up on a top water lure and had fun for a couple minutes till ole red came unbuttoned. It's a little embarrassing to lose a nice fish when you've got 6 hooks on your bait, but it happens. The water was really dark, about 83 degrees and did I mention wind. The redfish were caught on top water (that's fun) and a little plastic crab  Mr. sun was working hard and we got a little pink on the knees and cheeks (face that is). A great day all-in-all with a fine fishing partner. Y'all go get em and let us know how it went.

Nothing broke and caught fish. Sounds like an awesome day. Can't believe you not get heatstroke out there. Man it's hot. :smt004

I haven't been in that area recently. Might need to go look around! Thanks for the report.
