2023 Post Expo fishing trip

Well the sunbelt ag expo has came and went so it is time for our annual post expo fishing trip, this year we went to Keaton instead of St Marks as I have done since 2016. Unfortunately, I moved the dates not realizing my wife would have a work training so the majority of the crew was down Tuesday and I didn't make it down until Thursday. We made it to Keaton by 3 and was in amongst oyster bars by 330 but I chose poorly and we were running out of water quick. So we ended up going deeper to fish for trout, and I proceeded to hook what might have been the new world record ladyfish and that beast was way too big to net and threw the hook. But my dad and I didn't get skunked on a Thursday afternoon and we had fun.

Since we skipped lunch, we caught a keeper bsb and trout and called it good.

I got a kick out of the new school vs the old school in the parking lot.

Especially since that's my old seapro still kicking.
And we had an excellent meal to finish the day.

Knowing low tide was early Fri I had originally not been in a hurry to hit the water but my dad decided to start watching TV at 6 and since I was up, we lit out .

With high hopes for the morning

Stop one was a bust so we went to stop 2 and caught a very nice spanish

And stop 3 paid off with us catching a dozen reds in a short period of time, even my dad caught one

With a box of fish we decided to head in around 230 even though we hadn't limited on trout to prepare for the Friday night fish fry
Unfortunately only 2 boats worth of fish made the board

Solid day with a lot of fun had, 4-5 ft was the ticket and definitely everything was in the mood for gulp shrimp over everything else.
Saturday morning we decided to have one last meal as a group at the huddle house in Perry, and I got a reminder about why I sold the seapro

We had to take the fenders off as the springs on the trailer decided they couldn't take it anymore and the tires were rubbing the fenders. Good thing there's a tractor supply in Perry to pick up a second tire and we got him rolling quickly. I got home at a reasonable time to find my dog has decided the boat parking area is his new favorite play area
