Everything is Endangered……. Not really of course

One dive trip during gag and one after……
Gag trip was quick …. 40 ft of DI… big gags everywhere, stuffed with small herring… we stopped at 7 for the 5 of us… barely could shut cooler… more than enough fish for us. Great to see all the healthy gags…. Plenty from every age class. But don’t try to tell that to NOAA…. I’m sure they would tell me what we saw isn’t really what we think we saw. Amazing to see first hand. Seeing a ledge covered with fish is quite a sight. In the last 3 years we’ve seen way more gags and bigger gags than we did 15 years ago!
Just like the RS though, NOAA will say we are seeing ghosts.

Trip after gag season was tough…. Some type of plankton bloom on the bottom… saw the same thing at Pc beach later in the week… despite bad vis, and short trip , got 2 beast RS in 50ft! They weren’t there over the summer…
Maybe moved with storm of just migrating around.
Healthy number of keeper RG and gag as you would expect and one nest of huge mangroves in the mid 20s
I just watched them…. I don’t shoot big mangos in bad vis…. Toothy never far around the big mango swarms…
Fun day despite the vis… always something to enjoy in Gods creation!

Good News…. Never seen it this fishy, life everywhere , shallow and deep

Bad news: NOAA😡

Boomhauer,

If you are having trouble shutting a cooler with 7 gags in it, YOU need a bigger cooler.

Like you, we’ve encountered copious numbers of gag grouper and red grouper on my boat. We’ve seen lots of evidence that should result in lengthening gag grouper season and red grouper season. We see no justification for the current restrictions.

Or maybe just give us the “normal” gag season that THEY told us was the right regulation to rebuild the stock. They were actually correct, it worked.
Most folks were happy with the 6 or 7 months…
Ridiculous
