Way inshore!

My girl and I took a little trip down to Shired Island last Saturday to fish with her dad on his mudboat. He likes going up in the creeks pretty far to hunt for monster reds. No monsters were caught that day, but I did get a 22" red and a 17" trout. We also caught 3 Atlantic Croakers and her dad says he's never seen those in that area until this month (he's been fishing there for about 6 years). Not a great fishing report because we didn't limit on reds, but it was a great day!

It's on the left as you're heading to Horseshoe Beach. There's not much there, just a boat ramp and a camping area. There was a nice floating dock until Helene floated it away and parts of the asphalt on the two bridges. There are several creeks in the area and it's a great Fall - Spring fishing area. Most areas are too shallow for a typical boat so that's why we were on the mud boat. Had to stop and push once because the tide didn't come in enough.

Thanks for posting your trip; way inshore. I love to creek fish for reds and it's time to go. Your post has inspired me to wash off the skiff and hit the water.
