Fished Keaton Beach from 4/28 to 5/02 w a friend from Pennsylvania. We've been doing this trip for around 20 years with a few interferences from hurricanes. This is my second trip since the Hurricane and the devastation is still hard to see. The folks down there are trying real hard to come back, so show em some support in any way you can. I will say the current ramp conditions are rather poor and I'd really like to see the county get the docks back in.

We picked up limits of sea trout most days but only a couple of reds, no blues and no spanish. Usually during this trip we pick up some of these as well. Perhaps the bait aren't there yet or they aint coming. We did see some bait pods the last couple of days, so maybe they are just arriving. Most of our fish were caught in 4-4.5', but that's typically where I spend most of my time as well. Overall the water is quite clear, even to the north. We had a really good plug bite using the MirrOlure 17 and 27 series Mirrodine suspending twitchbaits. We picked up a number of fish in the 19-22 range with most released, but none of the 25-27's that we typically find a couple of. Water temps were in the high 70's, breaking 80 one day. Weather was perfect with a fairly decent breeze each day.

I'll try to add pictures as soon as I remember how:)

Sounds like a good time. Glad yall did well. Spanish and blues should be there I think you probably would need to be in 5-7' to get them though. Yeah the ramp is a PITA. Thanks for posting. Looking forward to pics. :-D

Went with wife last sunday to Aucilla and had no luck-her first time and just fished a little, but she got the bug. Wanted to go this weekend but looking at 2-3 kept me at home. Thanks for the posting and looking forward to getting back down!

2-3' is usually fine if wind not over 15knots. Also the forecast is for out to 20 miles so it's usually less closer in. Wind blowing towards shore will be roughest wind blowing off of the shore is usually lower than forecast. :-D

I can't believe that pengs friend was eating fried Spanish with the skin on

Looks like the docks should be fixed just in time for me to take a trip for my 40th
